Public consultation on microbes modified with new genomic techniques (NGT)

​​​​​​The European Food Safety Authority EFSA has published its draft opinion on microorganisms modified with new genomic technologies (NGT). EFSA's opinion may have an impact on how the future use of such organisms will be regulated in the European Union.

The “Draft scientific opinion on new developments in biotechnology applied to microorganisms” has been published on 23.2.2024 and a public consultation on it is ongoing until 8.4.2024. Private individuals and organisations can participate in the consultation on EFSA's website.
